The Club was formed in 1962 on the advice of the then Principal of Ipswich State High School, Mr Eric Gee. He suggested that the 1962 school team be held together as a past players’ team, although some players would still be at school. This team had beaten players that were more experienced in 1960, 1962.
Hence, in 1963, the girls began their team. As they played first at college, Mr Gee called them “Collegians”. They chose maroon tunics with bone coloured blouses.
Mr Gee was a very ardent supporter and provided the goalie pads. He also used to watch every Saturday’s fixtures the girls played.
Mr Greasley, Lyn and Jean’s mother, managed the team until approximately 1970.
